Trans Fat restriction decreases cardiovascular events in New York State – Eric Brandt, #UCIMR Class of 2016, Yale Cardiology fellow, published in JAMA Cardiology

New publication by #UCIMR alumnus (Class of 2016) and current cardiology fellow at Yale, Eric Brandt in JAMA Cardiology finds that New York State populations for whom use of Trans-Fatty Acids in foods were restricted, experienced fewer cardiovascular events – stroke and MI – compared with county populations without restrictions within 3 years. FDA plans to restrict use of trans fats in foods nationwide in 2018.   See the article here
