Global Health Track: Pre-Departure Planning

• The Program Director must approve that the resident is in good-standing to be eligible for an away rotation elective.
• International electives will need to be pre-approved based on experience, safety, and supervision.
• All residents traveling internationally are required to:
  • Review the US State Department Travel Warning
    • Any country with a Travel Advisory level 3 or 4 will not be approved for an elective unless otherwise approved from the Program Director
  • Complete a pre-travel medical assessment with their personal Primary Care Physician to obtain proper immunizations and prophylaxis
    • Review the CDC Yellow Book
  • Obtain traveler’s insurance (This can be obtained from any company, example: CISI)
  • Suggested: review the CIA World Factbook to improve understanding of your host country
