Zoie (Dr. Sheets) was called in to cover in the CCU this weekend after not having been on CCU in a while. She did an excellent job, showing efficient and high-quality care to all of her patients and great leadership to her new intern. One patient interaction really stood out to me. We had a very ill patient with respiratory failure, neutropenic fever from pneumonia, a large pericardial effusion, and many other concerns.
